Chair #3: Tracing the Origins of a Contemporary Classic Chair #3 is the product of an in-depth exploration of a sequence of iconic chairs—Conoid, Kufenstuhl, Zigzag, and Sitzgeiststuhl—all recognized as contemporary design classics. However, its true uniqueness is revealed not in the first glance, but through the intricate details and historical influences embedded in its form. The sequence begins with the Conoid chair, designed by George Nakashima in 1988. Nakashima, who referred to his work as "Shaker Japanese," drew inspiration from 19th-century Shaker furniture.
