About the Item
For years we have been searching for a proper size and “comfortable” Louis XVI side chair. Finally we came upon a beautiful set of Louis XVI side chairs from the 1800's in the style of Jacob from Chateau de I’ Oise in France. The seat of the Louis XVI chair was just a little wider and a smidgen deeper and the back relaxed a few more degrees, which makes for the absolute ideal Louis XVI side chair. The antique Louis XVI chairs just sat so right, that we decided to manufacture the Louis XVI side and armchairs, but not by some automated computerized machine overseas, no, but rather the old fashion way, by hand. Look at the radius carved corners of the seats and if you look carefully, you will see that they are slightly different and all the edges have clear crisp carving marks, which is not what you get by a machine made Louis XVI side or armchair. All the connections are mortise and tenon. We will offer the chairs from bare wood frames, to finished product.
