About the Item

A striking and handsome pair of French 19th century Napoleon III period Louis XVI st. ebony and ormolu side chairs with unusually wide seats. Each chair is raised on four circular tapered fluted legs below richly chased ormolu recessed block rosettes. At the straight frieze are charming carvings of patterns and a central swaging floral garland. The finely carved back is decorated with rosette ormolu mounts and two ormolu acorn finials above. Measure: Seat height: 19".
