A pair of Italian side chairs from the mid-19th century, with crescent shaped backs, new linen upholstered seats and curving legs. Born in Italy during the third quarter of the 19th century, this exquisite pair of side chairs showcases a distinctive design that captures the elegance of the era. Each chair features a crescent-shaped crest, gracefully curving to form a moon-like silhouette. The crest is adorned with the classical figure of the god Mercury, adding a mythological touch to the design. The absence of a traditional splat is replaced by a hand-carved finial with gilded accents, further enhancing the chairs' sophisticated appearance. The oval seats are newly upholstered in a soft linen fabric, providing a fresh and comfortable seating experience.
