Rare, 18th Century American or Bermuda Queen Anne Side Chair
About the Item
American or Bermuda, C. 18th century.
A highly important and unusual 18th century Queen Anne side chair. Featuring a shaped crest rail with fiddle back style splat and a shaped seat with scroll detailing to the cabriole legs with cutout rails joining cabriole legs above block, vase, and ring-turned and flat-shaped stretchers and resting on flat pad foot. Supports have been added to the underside of seat for stability, a linen and trimmed upholstered seat which is accompanied by a victorian needlepoint cushion.
Provenance: From the estate of a Little Compton RI collector with family heritage in the area for over 200 years. Family claims this chair has been in the family "forever".
