About the Item

Very rare caduceus carved back to a traditional neoclassical style side chair. The richly historical and ancient Caduceus symbol features well carved wings and the two Classic intertwined facing snakes. Horseshoe shaped upholstered seat with straight legs that bow slightly from the side view. Gold and hunter green paint decorated crest and back, circa 1920-1940. The chair measures 18.75” wide by 17” deep by 35” high. Seat height 18”. Condition: There is a very solid repair to one back leg, sporadic expected nicks to the frame and back symbol. While the chair requires re-upholstering, the seat padding remains firm with good spring. The underside dust cover fabric is torn. All of the aforementioned is for accuracy this rare piece presents very well, restoration will only enhance this rare historical chair.
