Petite Danish Teak Slipper Chair by Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen for Søborg -3 Available
About the Item
Small-scale/low profile teak easy / slipper chair model 501/ 'Japan' designed by Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen for Søborg Møbler (ca. 1960s, Denmark). Three available - sold individually.
Composed of a teak frame with slanted slat-back construction flanked by deeply sculpted, dense, cylindrical stretchers at both top and bottom, offering sharp, dramatic lines.
The back and seat cushion are adjoined by two sewn in straps (only two of the three chairs retain the original cushions - one chair is cushion-less). The cushions are an easy upholstery job requiring little fabric and foam - the fabric for the two chairs is usable, as is, though a less busy fabric would better accentuate the clean lines of the chair.
There are a few scuffs to the newly refinished teak frames (most notably, a series of scuffs to the top stretcher of one of the chairs, as shown). The fabric for two of the three chairs is usable, though a few light marks remain. The foam is thin by design, and, subsequently, the cushions are not cushy.
Retain the "Søborg Møbler Made in Denmark" manufacturer labels to the reverse.
