About the Item

Elegant group of six "spool" chairs, made of turned walnut, dating from the late 17th-early 18th century. The provenance can be traced to the Veneto area or, alternatively, to Emilia, based on stylistic and constructive characteristics. The seats have spool-like legs and crossbars, with regular and well-proportioned turning. The line is restrained but solid, consistent with formal domestic use in the late seventeenth century. The upholstery, redone in modern times (probably between the 1970s and 1980s), is made of green dotted fabric, attached with a regular row of decorative studs. The fabric shows slight signs of time and discoloration due to light, but is still in good overall condition. ù Measurements: Total height: 103 cm Seat height: 46 cm Width: 54 cm Depth: 48 cm Condition: Solid and stable structure. The chairs were restored about 40-50 years ago. No obvious attacks by xylophagous insects are detected; any marks are minimal and not structural. The chairs need only light cosmetic maintenance (a wipe or coat of wax to brighten the walnut).
