This Scandinavian-modern sofa from the 1950s embodies a quiet elegance rooted in the design language of mid-century Northern Europe. The sofa’s shape is both compact and sculptural. The back curves gently around the seating area in a continuous, cocoon-like sweep, eliminating sharp angles and instead favoring soft transitions. The arms are integral to the back, avoiding the segmented appearance found in more traditional sofas. This unibody design reflects the Scandinavian ethos of form following function. The backrest slightly tapers as it descends and the seat is relatively deep, providing the needing comfort. Supporting all of this are four short, rounded wooden legs.
