About the Item

This rare sofa from the 400 series by Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn is a tribute to craftsmanship. Its cleverly woven wicker backrest and delicate cherry wood frame give it its elegance. Striking features included the flowing organic shapes of the finely crafted armrests and the slightly curved crossbar in the back of the backrest. A webbing belt forms the basis of the seating comfort, covered with fabric. As a freelance architect and furniture designer, Lohmeyer mainly developed furniture for living spaces for Wilkhahn in the 1950s and 1960s.
