Gorgeous chinoiserie chow leg sofa by Schnadig International Furniture with Hollywood Regency flair. Comprised of a beautiful wood Ming style platform base with foam seat and loose cushion pillow back. In wonderful vintage condition with no outstanding flaws detected. Its original banana palm leaf designed white fabric has been professionally cleaned and is ready to use, though you may want to reupholster. It is priced accordingly. The perfect blend of true luxury and comfort with its plush foam cushions and deep seat you will immediately fall into a restful bliss. It features signature scrolled style arms, four back pillows and two arm pillows. When you sit down you are literally surrounded in relaxation! The fabric is soft white, and the banana palm leaves almost shimmer. You may want to reupholster, but we have professionally cleaned it and so it is ready to use as is, just in case you love the original tropical feel of the fabric as we do. The base is solid and sturdy with classic Ming style chow legs of a gorgeous solid wood resembling typical Asian elmwood. Sporting its Schnadig International Furniture tag (but somehow minus the Schnadig part of the label) we are certain of its origin. However, it also resembles like styles from Michael Taylor for Baker Furniture and the infamous Hollywood Regency flair of James Mont! This sofa is elegant but approachable and would look wonderful in a sitting room, living room, or even in your bedroom. Whether your style is modern, contemporary, traditional, or oriental this sofa will look amazing in your home! With a proud heritage that can be traced back to 1880, Schnadig International Corp. has long stood for well designed, well-made furniture. Lawrence Schnadig’s first memories of the furniture industry would date back to his childhood going to Pullman Couch Co. with his father on Sunday mornings. He would begin his career with Pullman Couch Co. as a salesman in 1930 shortly after he graduated from The University of PA at the Wharton School of Finance. He later went on to become president of that same company. In 1951, he formed Schnadig Corp. in partnership with Sears, Roebuck & Co. Though Sears' interest was later purchased, it still sells furniture manufactured by Mr. Schnadig's company today. The firm is one of the nation's largest upholstered-furniture manufacturers. He was respected for his dedication, integrity and for the quality of his products. "He was one of the very outstanding leaders in the furniture industry, going all the way back to the 1930s," said Nat Ancell, founder of Ethan Allen furniture, who knew Mr. Schnadig for 67 years. Mr. Schnadig was inducted into the Furniture Hall of Fame in 1990. He was 89 when he died in 1997 and his furniture is still globally integrated and well known for its standards of quality and style.
