Donald Deskey Art Deco Radio City Music Hall Sofa in Platinum Velvet
About the Item
This elegant and historically important sofa was designed by the legendary Donald Deskey- the man responsible for the design of Radio City Music Hall where this sofa was originally housed- in 1932. This iconic piece offers a cloud form motif consisting of stacked streamlined forms that create the sides of the sofa. Sitting on four volumetric feet attached by an elegantly apportioned apron. With its quintessentially Art Deco sensibility designed by one of the era's greats, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of 1930s historical design, as well as those with a penchant for truly special objects (that practically never come to market). The sofa has been newly reupholstered in a Holly Hunt Platinum Velvet. The piece has been newly reupholstered and restored to mint condition.
