Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale very rare, highly collectable Georgian circa 1780 Salon settee or window seat with the original gold giltwood frame which is ornately carved and velour tufted upholstery

This piece is sublime, it is super decorative, the gilding is 240+ years old and looks sublime from every angle, it has nice French inspired floral carvings with have their period plaster finish. The upholstery is antique, tufted and well aged, I was tempted to have the piece restored in leather however the fabric has so much age and charm I wanted to leave it for the new owner to decide
Condition wise, the seat platform had sunk, as such I've had my upholsterer sort it out as best he could with foam padding to make it comfortable and useable, there has been a new hessian base cover fitted using antique upholstery nail tacks, otherwise it is period perfect, the gilding has various patina marks as you would expect and hope to see a piece of this age, the upholstery is worn as you can see in the pictures, I have tried to keep this as period as possible
