This is an ultra-rare opportunity to acquire what is, unequivocally, the best of the best, it being a most spectacular, used George Smith Signature "Standard-Arm" Fixed-Back, Large 2.5-Seat Sofa, dressed in their iconic breathtaking, peerless Turkish woollen-kilims and suede, and with hand-turned mahogany legs with brass castors. As you will no doubt be aware by your interest in this listing, George Smith pieces are the epitome of classic English furniture design, are of peerless quality, and exhibit detailing and execution of an unrivalled standard. In a world of temporary pleasures, George Smith create beautiful furniture built to last a lifetime, with there being no finer, or more beautifully appointed, example of their work than this. This piece is in beautiful, original condition, having seen regular employment since its costly purchase many-moons ago. As the images will attest, it is largely free from fault, flaw or damage and, having aged gracefully, and having had the kilim on its seat-cushion-outers replaced by a pale-pink suede (it was the previous-owners solution to the original kilim outers un-knotting themselves past the point of use and function and, i must say, having never seen this done before believe it to be an entirely-appropriate, supremely-tactile and satisfying solution), is as relaxed, informal and effortlessly-elegant as is possible to imagine, with all of the colours significantly-more pale, relaxed and demure than they would have been the day it left George Smith's Cramlington Factory. As regards the replacement seat-cushion-outers, it is clear this pale-pink hue of suede was chosen to compliment and balance with the prominent pale-pink colour-components in the kilims but, should it be the preference of the buyer, it occurred to me that these could easily be replicated to pick-out another of the pattern-colours with alternative-outers manufactured at very-modest expense and inconvenience, and would be happy to facilitate this for the new buyer if desired. That said, those of you familiar with this intentionally-relaxed covering choice will understand that these loose-woven woollen Kilims are wonderfully imperfect by nature so, for those who demand precision and structure, this nonchalant, natural piece will almost-certainly not meet such lofty requirements. Perfect, it is not. However, for someone looking for a sofa of peerless quality and execution possessing huge personality and impact to position at the heart of their home, this handsome brute is nothing short of heaven-sent! Please view the images provided closely to confirm its impeccable condition and majestic appearance. Supremely vintaged at present, this already-antiqued covering, and the relatively-new suede seat-cushions, is guaranteed to become even-more handsome through the acquisition of further marks, wear and patina across the passing years.
