Liceu de Artes e Oficios, Sofa 4 places, c. 1960

About the Item

Created in the 1960s, this set consisting of a sofa and a pair of armchairs is now iconic of Brazilian modernist design, and it has largely participated in the recognition of the Liceu de Arte e Oficios as an important creative workshop. The line of the rear foot in a curve drawing tension gives a strong dynamism that perfectly balances the verticality of the front foot. The armrests are gently curved, which is a characteristic of Brazilian modernism, closer to natural forms and the omnipresence of nature in this country. This organic design is brings the visual and tactile lightness that complements the sensuality of the widely open backrest in order to offer a pleasant ventilation to this piece. Finally, the wood gives a warm note by its brown hue pulling on dark red, with lighter veins that come formed of ochre patterns. The set including the three-seater sofa and the pairs of armchairs all upholstered with white linen is available.
