About the Item

Mario Bellini, large modular 'Cameleonda' sofa, brown leather upholstery, Italy, 1971, reupholstered by our in-house upholstery atelier. The sectional elements of this sofa were made to be used freely and apart from one another. This sofa is part of our customized midcentury collection. The backs and armrests are provided with rings and carabiners, which allows the user to create a perfect 'seating landscape.' This design became famous almost immediately after it was featured in the exhibition 'The New Domestic Landscape' held in the MOMA Museum in 1972. The sofa is very comfortable, and the fact this wonderful piece is modular, provides endless flexible solutions for any project or living room. This sofa consists out of seven seating elements, five large elements and two smaller ottomans. In addition of five backrests and two armrests. The sofa will be completely reupholstered in a wonderful brown cognac leather by the experienced craftsmen of our in-house atelier. Please note that this is a customized piece. We have a large collection of Camaleonda pieces in stock and can reupholster them according to your own wishes in our in-house upholstery studio. Ask one of our advisors for more information and lead-time. Mario Bellini (1935-) is trained as an architect and became one of the leading designers in post-war Italian style. In the beginning of his career, he worked together with Olivetti, Cassina and B&B Italia which resulted in an early knowledge of synthetic resins and polyurethanes. His furniture is exciting, both in its use of material as in the originality of his designs. Bellini did not believe in precise boundaries of design, instead, he designed for the relationship of man and environment.
