Mid Century Modern Michael Taylor for Baker Black Ebonized Ming Sofa with Fretwork Back and Chair Set Custom Restored and Newly Upholstered - 2 Piece Set
This sofa set features a heavy solid wood frame, fretwork design back and arms, Ming style curved legs, loose cushions, and very impressive form. The sofa was newly reupholstered in a multi-colored woven boucle with orange mohair trip and bolster pillows. We paired this sofa with a custom restored modern Minton Spidell style ebonized London lounge chair. The chair was newly reupholstered with plush orange mohair to match the sofa. We also refinished both frames in a darker ebony color. This set would bring a beautiful pop of color to your Asian modern interior.

This unique curved sofa consists of two parts and whether the parts are standing next to each other or together, the design is simple and striking.
The two separate part construction allows for significant versatility; the sofas can be placed close together as an accent piece, or in different parts of a space to tie the aesthetic together. Despite the understated, elegant colours, this model is still an accent piece that stands out thanks to its materials and appearance. The structure relies on an interior frame covered by the upholstered fabric. In contrast to the constructivist models produced by the members of the Bauhaus, this aesthetic is more in favour of a relaxed and welcoming look. The design uses essentially geometric forms that exude warmth by the nature of the materials. The absence of arms and the ergonomic angle at which the seat and back meet creates an impression as if the sofa is opening up, enhancing both the visual and sitting comfort of the design.
