About the Item

Ligne Roset is a family business known for its unabashedly modern approach to design, an approach exemplified by this gorgeous sofa. Tastefully covered in a cotton-and-linen blend fabric and alcantara suede, it has a smooth hand feel and timeless details, such as the tufted seat and rolled seams. Designed by Didier Gomez began his career as an opera singer before branching out into the world of interior and product design in 1985 with his association with the architect JJ Ory. His expertise is highly acclaimed. Winner of numerous design awards, he has designed boutiques, large stores, restaurants, apartments, houses and head offices all over the world. Didier Gomez began working with Ligne Roset some fifteen years ago. Both he and Michel Roset have since forged an enduring partnership based on a creative synergy. The number of creations for Ligne Roset seems countless, but numbering among the most successful are his upholstery collections. Feng, Opium and Fugue have become symbols of his sleek, contemporary take on classic urban style. Rue de Seine looks set to follow. • Alberto Rosselli Saporiti Italia Post Modern Confidential Lounge Sofa Couch MCM
    By Alberto Rosselli Saporiti
    Located in Dayton, OH
"Iconic Fratelli Saporiti Italian Confidental lounge, library or club sofa / couch by Alberto Rosselli, circa 1970s. One of the first modular club chairs with a puzzle like cushion connection creating a pivotal look. Provenance : Jerome Schottenstein Estate, Columbus Ohio. Jerome was was an American entrepreneur and philanthropist, co-founder of Schottenstein Stores Corp. The Schottenstein family were Lithuanian immigrants who began an extensive business empire in the late 19th Century. Schottenstein Stores owns stakes in DSW and American Signature Furniture; American Eagle Outfitters, retail liquidator SB360 Capital Partners, over 50 shopping centers, and 5 factories producing its shoes and furniture. It also holds an ownership interest in American Eagle Outfitters, Wehmeyer in Germany, Cold Stone Creamery and The Mazel Company. Since 1950, Saporiti Italia produces some of the most sophisticated and advanced pieces of furniture of the history of Italian design. There is a leit motiv in all the company's creations: each new piece is history in itself. Catching time off balance and anticipating the future are both the challenge and the vocation of Saporiti Italia. Each item created and constructed by the company is slightly ahead of its time and it is destined to last, both in form and function, until the next era. The company, founded in 1950 by Mr. Sergio Saporiti and still under control of the Saporiti family, has contributed to the creation of milestones in the history of Italian design. During these decades of fast growing economy and fast changing social environment, Saporiti Italia set its particular international and avant-garde style. The first pieces of furniture of the Saporiti of the times were clearly influenced by emerging Scandinavian design, but with a special touch of Italian elegance in the use of finishing and materials. In 1965 Sergio Saporiti started a fruitful and “scientific” collaboration with one of the masters of Italian architecture and design of all times: Alberto Rosselli. Together they created a series of pieces of furniture – the Jumbo chair...
