About the Item
A wonderful rattan two-seater sofa with four-strand, wave-shaped rattan armrests. The sofa is in excellent condition with minimal, attractive patina. All joints between the two individual sections are solid and intact. The sofa's dimensions provide a comfortable seating experience. An absolute highlight on any patio or conservatory.
This extraordinary piece displays all the details so characteristic of Paul Frankl's work. Therefore, it can be assumed that it is an authentic piece by Paul Frankl. However, there is no maker's mark. Frankl was an Austrian designer and architect who experimented with biomorphic forms and rattan and bamboo in the 1940s and became known for his rattan pretzel designs. The sofa was most likely manufactured by Ritts Tropitan in the USA in the 1940s.
