This Biedermeier sofa dates back to the early 19th century and originates from Austria. It is crafted from solid cherry wood, veneered with spruce, which adds strength and a characteristic appearance. The sofa has been carefully restored, with its original varnish revived, and its stable construction ensures longevity. The original traditional upholstery is in excellent condition, not worn down, and the fabric has been professionally cleaned, preserving its original look. According to the original process, our professional refurbishing team in Czechia has restored and reupholstered the item. It has been re-polished with polyutherane piano lacquer by our professional refurbishing team in Czechia according to the original process. This item features classic Biedermeier elements. Visual simplicity, light-colored woods, and contrasting inlays characterize this style. Relaxed sophistication is the name of the game. Despite original Biedermeier pieces being over 200 years old, the furniture of the movement still feels fresh and modern.

Austrian Biedermeier-period sofa crafted of mahogany veneer, upholstered in beige fabric with geometric motifs. This refined piece of furniture has rolled armrests decorated with twisted patterns and medallions, and large backrest highlighted with scrolls and palmette. The sofa rests on four square fluted legs. The Biedermeier period began in the states of the German Confederation and in the Austrian Empire in 1815 (Congress of Vienna) and ended in 1848 (March Revolution). The Biedermeier style referred mainly to the decorative arts, but also included sculpture and painting. In contrast to the opulence and heroism of Napoleon's Empire, the Biedermeier style promoted calm and simplicity. From 1830 onwards, it embodied a new, comfortable, bourgeois way of life. In furnishing, the emphasis was placed on the structure of the furniture that had robust and geometrical forms, softened by curves.
