About the Item
Italian sofa from the 1960s with a refined organic silhouette and deep red upholstery. The gently curved backrest and armrests give the piece a soft, elegant presence, while the tapered brass legs create a light and airy profile.
The legs feature a diamond-pattern crosshatch etching, a beautiful example of the meticulous detailing typical of Italian postwar design. The deep red fabric has a warm, romantic tone that comes across beautifully in person and in video. The seat is firm and comfortable, giving it a substantial and luxurious feel. A romantic and elegant piece in the spirit of Gio Ponti but more affordable.
Very good vintage condition with light patina on the brass. We can let is shine upon request, if that's what you like. Upholstery is clean and in good condition.

What stands out most in this low corner bench are the recesses in the framework and the 9 straight, tapered, squared stiletto legs that are so typical for that period in Italy.
As you can see the backrest is optional and was probably designed later to give it some extra comfort. Back in the days these sofas were mostly used for very practical purposes like a quick coffee or pasta.
This sofa would work very well in a corner of course but strangely enough this rectangular sofa also works very well in the middle of a room for example with a round table and two chairs...
