About the Item

This extraordinary three-seater G-Plan sofa, conceived by K.M. Wilkins for the celebrated “Tulip Group,” is a rare rosewood rendition of an otherwise teak-centric line—and its presence is nothing short of enchanting. Originally purchased new in Glasgow, Scotland in 1970 by its only owners, it has remained in immaculate condition, carrying with it the quiet confidence of provenance and preservation. Luxuriously soft velvet envelops the frame—an elusive tone hovering between olive-green and taupe-brown—that shifts subtly with light and angle, offering a tactile interplay as captivating as the design’s silhouette. Thoughtful restoration has ensured that elegance is matched by durability. The original webbing had troughed with age, so the sofa was completely disassembled. New industrial-grade 3-inch elastic strapping was installed, preserving the original foam while enhancing comfort for decades to come. Each rosewood panel and chrome detail was cleaned and polished, bringing renewed clarity—while a discreet wood crack on the left rosewood panel was expertly stabilized. Beyond its sculptural and tactile appeal, this sofa is woven into the narrative of British mid-century modern design. The “Tulip Group” represents K.M. Wilkins’ dedication to organic forms and domestic sculpture, and this rosewood example is an exceptionally rare embodiment of that philosophy. Matching pair of lounge chairs also available and sold separately (see last pic). Purchased new in Glasgow, Scotland in 1970. We acquired from the original owners who kept it in pristine condition. Designed by K.M. Wilkins for G-Plan of England, this line is appropriately named the "Tulip Group". Dimensions: 36"Deep x 82" Wide x 30.25" High Seat Hight 17"

Tulip Group Lounge Chairs in Rosewood by K M Wilkins for G-Plan of England
By G Plan Furniture, Thonet, Percival Lafer, Charles and Ray Eames
Located in Chattanooga, TN
This exquisite pair of G-Plan “Tulip Group” armchairs, designed by K.M. Wilkins and crafted in rosewood—a notably rare execution for the series—radiates mid-century elegance and organic grace. The “tulip” moniker is more than poetic; the sculptural rosewood panels curve with a subtle bloom-like fluidity that imbues each chair with the quiet lyricism of a flower unfurling. Rooted in provenance, these chairs were originally purchased in Glasgow, Scotland in 1970 and have been meticulously preserved by the original owners. The plush velvet upholstery—an elusive shade hovering between olive green and taupe brown—responds with nuance to shifting light, creating a lustrous interplay as soft and evocative as the wood grain itself. A nod to thoughtful functionality, the chairs glide effortlessly on their original Magnum Orbit chrome...

7-Piece John Wisner for Ficks Reed Far Horizons Rattan Modular Sofa Group
By Ficks Reed, John and Elinor McGuire, John Wisner
Located in Chattanooga, TN
This elegant modular sectional by John Wisner for Ficks Reed comes from the iconic Far Horizons collection, first introduced in 1954. Poised at the intersection of Eastern sensibility and mid-century modernity, the design blends tropical-inspired rattan craftsmanship with clean modern form, resulting in a versatile sectional that’s both sculptural and relaxed. The sofa is composed of four modular rattan segments—three seating units and one integrated end table. This flexibility allows you to configure it as a linear lounge, an L-shaped sectional, or separate chairs paired with a standalone table—the perfect match for dynamic living environments. These modular bamboo lounge chairs with end table are featured in the hard-to-find dark walnut tone. The color is so deep that it almost appears ebonized. Curved and straight lines of rattan intersect to create this trademark pagoda style. The original straps have been replaced with all new supports. Professionally reupholstered with new, textured fabric. Along with new foam cushions, our restoration team spent countless hours on the revitalizing the bamboo on all 7 pieces. We maintained the original tone and mitigated nearly every flaw in the finish. The coffee table...
