1950s Japanese vintage wood display stand or stool. wabi sabi Japandi
About the Item
New finds from a traditional barn in Ibaraki pref, Japan.
This display stand - or stool - is manufactured in mid 20th century, circa 1950s, estimate from the hearing from the former owner.
Fully made of quality Keyaki (Japanese Zelkova) hardwood, which is rare as modern style furniture in this era.
The top board is about 3 inches in thickness, and one side has live edge, grained deeply - while other parts are cut straight - which gives a good wabi sabi accent to the item.
The panel is made of single solid Keyaki board, marble-like grains catch the eye.
And of course, made with traditional wood joinery without metal fastener.
Durable & stable enough as a stool for the adult, as well as display stand (for heavy / fragile object).
This piece is one of the "Ashed" line furnitures of my shop items - washed off the remained old vanish by the lye made from the hardwood ashes, then re-finished with homemade, water-based sheer matte polish mist made of beeswax & linseed oil. Not shiny, but touches are smooth.
Storage area : w 14.37 in / h 16.34 in / d 9.84 in (w 365mm / h 415mm / d 250mm)
Actual item weight : 33.96 lb (15.4 kg)
