19th Century French Turned Oak and Iron Artist's Stand or Stool
About the Item
Antique oak and iron artist's stand or stool, France circa 1850s.
A rare style oak artist's stand with nicely turned legs and iron reinforcements. The complexity of the base is uniquely beautiful. The industrial element of the iron artfully complements the oak while providing strong support for its slim frame.
An integral piece in a studio, it was used by an artist for positioning objects or models to draw/paint or possibly as a leaning stool while working as well. The stand has a sophisticated posture with a rustic feel and excellent craftsmanship is demonstrated in the fine details.
It is exquisite to stand alone, but also may be used for plants, sculptures or as a tall side table. It is in good, sturdy condition.
The stand's platform/seat is 13.5"w x 5.5"d. Other measurements noted in the listing reflect the widest point at the base of the A frame.
