About the Item
Rare and stunning antique, rotating chair.
This stylish Arts & Crafts stool, we believe, started its life as a piano chair, but it may also have been used as a chair for a craftsman (or lady). The woodwork is in superb condition and this stool has, over the many decades, gained a marvelous patina. The stunning legs are made of beech, the thick stem of walnut and the seat frame too is made of beech. Inside the thick nutwood stem is the industrial, strong metal screwthread that makes this stool height adjustable and it too is a joy to look at. This antique stool is as stable as the day it was hand-crafted and in our opinion the perfect height is the height that it has in its lowest position. If you wind it more than 2 inches higher then it quickly becomes to high and the seat then becomes slightly wobly. Finally, this chair is inlaid with a beautiful and excellent condition piece of dark leather. This stool can again be used what it was created for, however, as a 'furniture still life' (as we call it) it will also look wonderful in an entrance or bedroom.
