Bombo Stool by Stefano Giovannoni for MAGIS

About the Item

Bombo - presented for the first time in 1996 - is an object which has since become part of the collective imagination as the contemporary stool par excellence. The dominant feature of Bombo is the injection-moulded ABS seat, which is height-adjustable thanks to a gas piston and available in four colours or polished. A few years later, in 2002, Al Bombo was launched. Equal in shape and size, it differs from Bombo for the material. This version has base, footrest and handle in stainless steel and the seat in polished die cast aluminium. Today this stool is an icon, a style pioneer. Ultra-copied and ultra-imitated. Yet Bom- bo is still Bombo. Its copies are another story, another chapter which is not a chap- ter on creativity and design.
