Contemporary and Tangible Burned Spruce Wooden Tiger Stool by Lisa Ertel
About the Item
Dune is a family of seating furniture made of solid wood. The Collection is a result of observing how time forms Material. The sandblasting technique imitates the forces of nature, removing the soft early wood to reveal the annual rings of the tree. The dynamic structure created by the interplay of light and shadow makes the individual history of wood visible and tangible.
The archaic form of Dune is inspired by stone benches called ‚Ruhstein‘. These contemporary witnesses were built in the area around south Germany and France in the 16th century. Positioned on connecting roads between two trading points the benches provided a place for traders and farmers to rest and put down heavy goods for a while.
