About the Item
Mid-20th Century Louis XVI Style Giltwood Window Seat
A substantial and elegantly proportioned vintage window seat, crafted circa 1950s–1970s in the Louis XVI style. The gently curved giltwood frame features five fluted legs—three to the front and two to the rear—with carved floral motifs adorning the corners.
The frame retains much of its original gilding, now naturally worn in places, with areas of rubbing and small touch-ups visible. The piece remains structurally sound and of good quality construction.
The buttoned seat is upholstered in a silver-grey velvet-style fabric, which shows general signs of age and use, including scattered marks and light stains. While usable as is, the upholstery would benefit from replacement.
