About the Item

This is part of the building materials of a house built in Japan around the 20th century. It is thought to have been used in important places such as pillars. We were able to obtain part of that building material. It is about 50cm tall, so it is tall enough to be used as a stool. The material is Zelkova wood, and the grain is very beautiful. Zelkova wood is a high-quality wood that has been used as a building material in Japan since ancient times. It is often used in shrines and temples, and this may be part of such building materials. Or it may be part of the building materials of a wealthy house. It is carved in a complex three-dimensional manner with chisels, and is thought to be a pillar that was woodenly assembled from four directions. When you look closely like this, it looks like a sculpture and is very beautiful. You can also put small items on it, so it can be used as an exhibition stand. There are saw marks on the top surface, but the corners have been slightly sanded. I think it is a very interesting item. It is difficult to obtain such items, so I recommend it.
