Pair of 1750s Italian Piedmontese Rococo Blue-Painted and Parcel-Gilt Stools

About the Item

A pair of Italian Piedmontese Rococo period mid-18th century painted and parcel-gilt stools from the collection of designer Gary Tisdale-Woods, with cabriole legs and upholstery. Born during the 1750s in the Piedmont, the northwestern region of Italy that sits at the foot of the Alps, this pair of blue-painted and parcel-gilt stools presents typical Rococo silhouettes. A similar example can be found in the Royal Palace of Turin in the Appartamento della Regina, ex sala d'Udienza di Madama Felicita. Each seat is covered with a simple muslin with cording and is raised on four elegant cabriole legs with acanthus leaves on the knees. The gilded accentuation of the motifs is perfectly highlighted by the softness of the blue paint. With their curvy lines and lovely finish, these Italian Piedmontese stools circa 1750 will bring a delicate Rococo presence in any home, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
