About the Item

Playful, sculptural, and unmistakably bold, this pair of Italian cantilever barstools by Luigi Bardini, designed in the 1970s for Miniforms Design. Each stool features a gracefully curved chrome tubular frame, paired with a faceted Lucite backrest that appears to float above the plush, tiger-print velvet seat. A label underneath confirms Italian origin with Miniforms Made in Italy branding on a 1970s style label. Some sources attribute U.S. distribution or licensed production to Hill Manufacturing, suggesting a potential cross-continental partnership during the 1970s or early 1980s. The mix of luxurious materials - clear Lucite, polished chrome, and animal print upholstery, creates a visually striking presence, balancing refinement with a dash of glam. These barstools are a fantastic example of Postmodern Italian design, showing clear influence from Hollywood Regency, Space Age, and even Memphis Milano aesthetics. The silhouette echoes the expressive forms found in 1970s and 1980s design, making these stools a natural fit for Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, or Eclectic interiors. Ideal for both residential and commercial environments, these stools would be a showstopping addition to a home bar, kitchen island, boutique hotel lounge, design studio, or members-only cocktail club. Their cantilever construction also lends them comfort and flexibility as stylish barstools, counter stools, or occasional seating. MEASUREMENTS: H 40.25" x W 22" x D 19.75" Seat Height: 30.5" Seat Depth: 18" CONDITION: Overall good vintage condition with age appropriate patina and wear. Lucite is in good condition with minor scratches / markings. Chrome is in good condition with moderate patina in the form of oxidation, some areas with heavier concentration. The metal can be polished to improve on the patina. Fabric is faded and would benefit from reupholstery or cleaning.
