Riccardo Monte is a creative studio based in the Italian Alps.
With the vision of creating a multi-disciplinary studio, architecture, design, and art come together to shape one-of-a-kind projects. Riccardo’s work is simple, honest, and authentic. Riccardo is an architect and maker who loves his job.
Following eight years of work as an architect in London, Riccardo returned to his mountainside home in Ornavasso, Italy – quitting the city and chasing a change in rhythm. This shift in geography and tempo gave structure to Riccardo’s solo practice, which rests on exploring the beauty in the existing and elevating natural materials through low-intervention processes. He left the city in 2016 and spent the following six months in a mountain cabin with no electrical power. Remote and in solitude, his time there brought him closer to nature and the values of a simple life. He has since been based in his studio home, nestled close to the Swiss border in the Alps, working together with his British partner Katie, a photographer & filmmaker.
Riccardo studied architecture at Politecnico di Milano and London South Bank University. In London, he worked for six years at dRMM Architects. In 2016 he moved back to Italy.

The Gallery stool. A sculptural modern organic side table/stool turned from a solid block of macrocarpa (Monterey Cypress). The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life.
The macrocarpa wood will continue to dry out as it finds its equilibrium moisture content of its new environment. Further movement and splits should be expected, and this is part of the wabi-sabi design of the Gallery side tables.
