Set of six barstools, solid elm, velvet, Europe, 1970s
These barstools in solid elm stand out for their strong vertical rhythm: two thick wooden legs that extend upward in a continuous line before folding gently to support the seat. The lines are bold but softened by rounded edges, giving the pieces a warm, approachable presence. Beneath the seat, the structure is cleverly designed. The legs are connected by a footrest made of two curved uprights and a horizontal bar. Padded and upholstered in a rich, olive-toned velvet, the seat and backrest appear gently curved.
