About the Item

This unusual stool has a fine sculptural quality, combining functionality with artistic merit. The kneeling cherub is in service, holding the elaborate cushion on his head for his master to sit on. A fabulous 18th century, Baroque, Venetian, walnut, grotto stool. In the form of a beautifully sculpted, crouching putti, cherub or amorini, with a draped shawl around him, kneeling on rocky ground supporting a cushion on his head. The 5cm thick cushion top carved and incised with unusual flowerhead pendant tassels in each corner. On a circular fluted base. Exceptional original rich color and lustrous patina.
