Authentic Tolix steel stacking stools were originally designed by Xavier Pauchard, commonly known as Mr. X. Around the early 1900’s Xavier invented a process for protecting metal from rusting. By 1927 Xavier began selling steel household products. The now infamous Tolix steel stacking stools and steel stacking chairs were not in production until the late 1930’s.
