Vintage Industrial Bakelite Artist Workshop Stool after Prouve Olson Odelberg AB

About the Item

This stool design seems to be an exact replica of the one Jean Prouve did for Odelberg Olsen AB in 1930. However this stool has a Russian label with the logo of the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics, Kaluga Russia. So, we are not sure when the USSR started producing these copycat stools, or if this design was licensed in anyway from Odelburg Olsen or Jean Prouve. The bakelite top would date it well before 1960, so we feel the production date must be between the 1940s and 1950s. The base is folded steel sheeting, the shaft and tightening bolt are cast iron, and the stool top is molded rag soaked bakelite. This is the best looking example we have ever owned and it is also the only one to retain this Russian museum label. This one was procured in France, and shipped to the USA in 2015.
