Rare Set of 6 Ocean Liner Chairs, England – Early 20th Century

About the Item

Superb English-made nautical furniture dating from the early 20th century. Each of these six swivel seats is made of mahogany and brass. A mahogany seat base rotates, its slightly rounded edge resting on a brass element secured by four screws. The seat's interior is hollowed out with a slight movement in the center. It rests on a wide cylindrical brass shaft, the lower part of which features a large collar secured to a circular solid mahogany base. At the top, the trapezoidal backrest is held at the top by a cylindrical brass element extending from each side of the seat. This brass element is embedded in the backrest with half-round screws. Under the seat, the steel part pivots relative to the central shaft and can be removed if necessary. ******** Period: Early 20th Century Excellent condition.
