About

It was love at first sight… the unforgettable silhouette, the gorgeous leather aged perfectly, highlighting the rich patina…We knew immediately that we had to have it in our collection, the High Wingback chair is considered to be Frits Henningsen's greatest work. His reinterpretation of the classic design transcends time; he manages to merge the traditional and contemporary creating one of the most striking and recognizable shapes in modern furniture design.

Henningsen first created this masterpiece in the early 1930s, using the popular wingback chair as inspiration, he accentuated the lines, wrapping the curves transforming the classic shape into a piece of art.
The classic wing chair dates back to the early 1700s, with the integration of the “wing” feature to a Berger style chair, it became a popular fireside choice. The concept of the wing was to capture additional heat around the chairs occupant. The Henningsen wingback is unsurpassed in quality and beauty, like all of Henningsen pieces, this chair was crafted entirely by hand using the same labor-intensive methods used in the nineteenth century . Henningsen intended his pieces to be coveted and collectable; quality items that would serve a lifetime, with one glance you will agree that he succeeded. This chair is a testament to the incredible vision and unparalleled craftsmanship that made Henningsen famous. With the original upholstery, the color and texture of the leather is exceptional, although it may be impossible to describe the shape and exquisite proportions of this chair, you will marvel at how Henningsen was able to capture a remarkably modern feeling and fuse it with its traditional heritage. This Henningsen wingback is an icon of modern design, it has been talked about , written about and sought after since its introduction. At dragonlaine, we consider ourselves treasure hunters, THIS is the chair the treasure hunters dream of finding.
