19th Century Georgian Black Leather-Upholstered Wingback Armchair

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare and important pair of original Georgian Irish brown leather Chesterfield armchairs with ornately carved arms A good looking and well made set, they are upholstered with fully aniline leather, it was fitted plain and then hand nail tacked in place using antique studs. It was also hand dyed, you only have this lovely vintage gentleman’s club look and feel with fully aniline leather. The frames are quite interesting on these chairs, its walnut and has ornately carved legs which are oversized and nicely detailed, popular with fine furniture in the 17th through to 19th century. The cushions have whats called Thomas Chippendale floating buttons The chairs have been restored to include a wash back and hand dying of the upholstery, its a dark cigar brown color, the timber lightly washed back and French polished Dimensions Height 112cm, seat height 46cm Width 89cm Depth 85cm frame alone, 87cm including cushion overhang Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
