Rare Pair of Georgian Irish Brown Leather Wingback Armchairs William Morris Arms

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare and important pair of original Georgian Irish brown leather armchairs with William Morris style flat top arms A good looking and well made set, they are upholstered with fully aniline leather, it was fitted plain and then hand nail tacked in place using antique studs. It was also hand dyed, you only have this lovely vintage gentleman’s club look and feel with fully aniline leather. The frame is quite interesting on these chairs, its oak and has ornately carved legs which depict the acanthus shells to the top, popular with fine furniture in the 17th through to 19th century The finish has been left original and nicely faded, we have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom I can have the chairs fully restored to include having the leather hand dyed a deep cigar or whisky brown colour for a fee, they would then be gallery restored, I have left them as they are because they look full of character and charm as they are Dimensions Height 110cm Width 87cm Depth 87cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
