English Early 20th Century Shop Display Box

About the Item

This is a beautifully made shop display box, with a curved glass opening front and mirror. It has 3 glass shelves and the front can be opened from the back or front. Made by S. Mawson & Sons Limited in the early 1900s - who traded in Aldersgate, EC1 London until 1940 when the firm rebranded to Maws Pharmacy Suppliers and moved to Barnet in the north of the city. Please see the picture for the stamp on the back. A lovely traditional British antique!

This beautiful wall clock was made by Thwaites and Reed in the late 19th century. The case is mahogany and numbered 118 with a small ivorine plaque - these clocks were made for establishments such as the Inns of Court and the Bank of England in London. The company were also employed to service them. The clock is wound with the original key and has a lovely deep tick tock (no chime). The diameter of the clock face is 30cm.
