18th century, Louis XIV wood apothecary cabinet with gilded bronze Measures with base H 145 x 127 x 45 cm; only cabinet H 62 x W 114 x D 37 cm This particular coin cabinet was made in the early 18th century in the north of Europe in dark wood, with applications in gilded bronze finely chiseled. It has two series of four drawers each with reserves composed of small circular bronze applications. In the center, a door is divided into two sections. In the upper one inside the tarsi as that create geometric effects, there are applications in gilded bronze with ornamented phytomorphs. In the middle, in gilded bronze, a winged shield on which rests a crown was the place for the engraving of the family name to which the object belonged. At over 7' tall, over 6' wide, this magnificent cabinet is one of the most impressive Apothecary chests we have seen. There are 52 drawers total. The small drawers have two-section dividers and the large ones have four-sections. An "open-light" feature has a removable shelf that allows storage flexibility while providing visibility and convenience. This is an all original cabinet with all bronze hardware intact and many labels still visible. The chest is made of two separate tiers which enables stability for such a large, solid wood piece. Handsome cared lines on the frame give nod to Ming style...
