18th Century Italian Walnut Cassone with Carved Figure Ends & Paw Feet
About the Item
A fine example of an Italian walnut cassone with a central scrollwork carving flanked by figure carving on each end, decorative geometric border carving on the lid and continuing on the case panels and base, and wrought iron handles on each end, all supported by front carved paw feet. Some of the original hardware is present, including the center lock and strap hinges, with some restorations - the front two panels have been converted to doors, with magnets added. The cassone dates to the 18th century in very good condition, with great overall patina, minor restorations, edge losses, and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 21.75 in H x 61 in W x 20.5 in D. Ref: 8
