19th Century English Original Painted Dark Prussian Blue Blanket Chest

About the Item

19th Century English blanket chest with interior candle box, having the original painted dark Prussian blue finish. Circa 1860-1880. An authentic example of good proportions. The wrought iron carrying handles and hinges are all intact. The lock and escutcheon are also original. There is no key. The lid opens and closes well, and can be held open by the candle box lid. The chest features handmade dovetail construction to the sides. The chest has been waxed, there are signs of use as you would expect, having knocks, marks and differences in colour and finish, all adding to character and charm. Would work well as a coffee table. Additional dimensions information: With the lid raised it is 101cm high Delivery is INCLUDED in the price for all areas in MAINLAND England & Wales. Free delivery is restricted to ground and first floor, unless there is a lift the item can fit in. There is an additional charge of £12 per floor for delivery above the first floor via the stairs.
