A Spanish 18th century large size carved-wood coffer. This Spanish trunk from the 18th century features a long rectangular-shaped top which rests above a beautifully carved case adorn with a leaf motif moldings and geometrically designed panels with decorative accents within their centres. Front paw feet project out beneath the thickly molded skirt. The trunk's interior offers a large open storage space. This 18th century Spanish chest is an overall rich, brown color with beautiful aging throughout. The back-side of this piece remains un-decorated, therefore best use would be against a wall, bed, or sofa. This 18th century coffer from Spain would be perfect at the foot of a bed, or within in a family/living room, with plentiful storage for blankets and pillows...

An Anglo-Indian geometric front mahogany coffer on base from the 19th century, with lift top, carved panels, two drawers, cabriole legs and lateral handles. Hand-crafted during the 19th century, this Anglo-Indian mahogany coffer features a rectangular lid with twisted accents on the edges, that lifts up to reveal a dark interior convenient to store blankets and linen. It is the two-toned façade however, which attracts our attention with its geometric décor flanked with studs in the upper section. The center is occupied by ornate hardware while the lower part is made of two drawers. Their dovetail construction reveals the piece's age. The sides present C-scroll handles allowing the piece to be moved more easily, this item was therefore a travelling piece. The ensemble is raised on four cabriole legs on trifid feet. An early 18th century Louis XIII style coffer or trunk handcrafted of solid old growth French walnut having a beautiful rich and dark color patina, circa 1710. This handsome trunk features typical Renaissance style geometric carvings like the raised lozenge on the front and raised à pointe de diamants or diamond tipped decoration on the side panels. Raised on bun feet. Original iron handles and hardware. Coffers and trunks were used to keep all sorts of treasures under lock and key while still functioning as seats, tables, and even beds for children...
