Coffre En Merisier Massif – Fin XIXe Siècle

About the Item

This solid cherrywood chest, crafted in the late 19th century, is an authentic testament to the furniture heritage of the châteaux of the Loire Valley. It was assembled using the traditional mortise and tenon technique, ensuring remarkable sturdiness. Resting on solid and harmonious legs, it opens from the top and features a back panel also made of solid wood, a testament to its artisanal quality. Made by a local artisan from the Anjou region, this chest was crafted with particular care, with each piece of wood meticulously selected to ensure strength and durability. This chest comes from the outbuildings of a château in Anjou, an emblematic region of the Loire Valley. Originally used for storing food supplies, its top-opening design allowed for quick and convenient access to provisions while ensuring their proper preservation. A Piece Full of History, Ready for a New Life With an exceptional patina and in very good condition, this chest tells the story of the craftsmanship of past artisans and the evolution of domestic practices over time. Today, it fits seamlessly into a contemporary interior, adding a touch of authenticity and character. Its generous storage space makes it a versatile piece, ideal for storing household linens, firewood, or precious objects. Its simple and timeless design, combined with the warmth of solid cherrywood, allows for harmonious integration into both classic and modern décors. This chest is more than just a piece of furniture: it is a fragment of history, a testament to the refinement and artisanal expertise of French craftsmanship.
