Irish Georgian Mahogany Blanket Chest

About the Item

With a rectangular hinged top with molded edge over a conforming case with deep well over a long drawer. The base with two drawers over a central carved scallop shell , raised on cabriole legs with shell knees and ball and claw feet. With brass handles and escutcheons. Key for top lock.

The chest has handmade dovetail construction, with a shaped apron below the two drawers, standing on squat cabriole legs and a pad foot. Made in two sections. The chest interior is 87cm wide x 45cm deep x 30cm high. Condition report - With the original patina and brass wear. There are some knocks and marks expected with a piece of this age. The beading on the drawers has some damage. The top has some polish loss in one place, you should be able to make this out in the photographs. There is damage to one hinge, this has had some later screws added. The lid opens and closes well, and is not loose. The chest lock...
