This is a large vintage camphor trunk. A Japanese, mahogany and camphorwood lined chest, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930. Exceptional craftsmanship and figuring accentuates this generous coffer Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Select stocks present fine grain interest and rich russet hues Wide, flat top ideal for use as a distinctive coffee table with useful storage space Stout lid with broad crown moulding opens wide for easy access, resting upright with brass chain stay Lidded candle box to the interior a pleasingly traditional appointment Delightfully clean, natural camphorwood interior presents beautifully Good proportion to the interior lending itself to use for decorative shipping purposes Dressed with a pair of shaped brass lock escutcheons to the front fascia —keys absent Substantial drop handles in natural brass to each end, mounting upon oval backplates Stands upon a strikingly decorative set of ogee bracket feet accentuated with relief foliate carvings This is a striking vintage camphor trunk, graced with superb figuring, color and craftsmanship.
