About the Item

Rare and important antique American early 19th century figured mahogany "Duncan Phyfe" style flap-top secretary bookcase with gorgeous lyre-shaped glazed doors. Color of mahogany has sun-faded to a handsome honey color. Owing to certain construction details, though Duncan Phyfe is from New York, this piece is attributed to the Philadelphia area. (Appraisal and attribution from Architrave, Ltd., Charleston, SC, 1980s).
