21st Century Studio Irvine Fusto Bookcase Mod.I Concrete Bookshelf Beige Cement

About the Item

Bookcase part of a collection of modular system in ultra-high performing cement mortar. UHPC tabletop and base colored in the mixture and sandblasted. Available in eight different colors: Brick, silver, powder, cream, fir, dark, chocolate, ink and ultra marine. Each item is hand treated and is protected with water repellent products to reduce the absorption of oily substances and to minimize the making of stains. Surrealism, primitivism, metaphysics and brutalism. Art together with architecture and design build a scenario of inspirations and continuous references through which the material rises to an expressive language, ready to welcome and rework formal suggestions of different origins. Fusto is the series that introduces the new design approach. As in classical architecture, Fusto is the column that holds tables, consoles, bookcases and pedestals. Volumes and proportions are integrated in a timeless geometry, enriched with facets that make the color vibrate in a game of lights and shadows. Fusto is eternal architecture. Our products are easily recognizable by the exclusive treatment of the material and the passionate quest for lightness and style. The artisanal handicraft, the use of modern materials and innovative techniques, with a completely “Made in Italy” production, further enhances the prestige of Italian design. Forma&Cemento, the Italian brand of excellence in artisanal cement processing, stands out for its commitment to environmental sustainability, embracing a philosophy that is reflected in every phase of the production process. The company's mission is to offer unique and customizable products made with high-quality materials and a keen eye for the environment. At the core of Forma&Cemento's production is UHPC cement, a high-performance cementitious mortar that ensures not only durability and strength but also a reduced environmental impact compared to traditional cement production processes. The artisanal craftsmanship and expertise of the design and artisan team allow for the creation of lightweight and sturdy products, transforming cement into an ideal material for furnishing both indoor and outdoor spaces. One of the main criticisms raised about the cement industry is the environmental impact associated with CO2 production. Forma&Cemento addresses this concern by inviting reflection on the durability of its products. Similar to a glass, whose longevity compensates for the impact of the production phase over its expected lifespan, Forma&Cemento products are designed to last a lifetime. The durability of these products sets them apart from less sustainable materials, such as plastic or paper. Sustainability goes beyond product durability: Forma&Cemento has implemented a closed production cycle, where waste from one production becomes the raw material for another product. A notable example of this innovative use of waste is the creation of products with a "terrazzo" effect. All materials used are selected based on sustainability certifications and sourced locally, reducing the CO2 impact associated with transportation. The choice to use sand from the Tiber River, among the same materials used by ancient Romans, pays homage to tradition and serves as an example of how the modern can draw from a rich historical legacy. Through a "made-to-order" production approach, Forma&Cemento avoids excessive warehouse costs and further reduces CO2 emissions related to transportation. The meticulous selection of environmentally friendly materials and ongoing research to create new cement mixtures by integrating waste materials attest to the company's consistent commitment to increasingly sustainable and environmentally respectful production.
